Everything is, to be Remembered
By Maiya Drury
Cavemen splashing and welly boots in rock pools,
Hands kept held and letters sent on foot,
Everything is, To be Remembered.
I wonder about the truth in reincarnation.
Past lives aches’, the palimpsest of my tears,
The weight of words lost pulling on my skin.
I like my ancient heart to swim
In scenes of my mind’s curation,
From parchment drawings and film developing.
Lately memory is a springboard
Hanging off the cliff of my soul,
Feet dangling off the edge, teasing change.
Childhood’s sweet laugh and hopeful daisies
Urging me to make a chain,
Another link in the necklace of the Milky Way,
Another spark stored in sight,
Another play
